Blue Lagoon
The Blue Lagoon Beach, or locally known as the Maira-ira Beach, is one of Pagudpud’s beach that is perfect for those who love to ride the waves or even to beginners who are just trying to learn how to maneuver their surfing. Apart from the surfable waves, its turquoise blue waters and white sand is another reason why it’s very popular especially during the right season. There is a zip line station/jumping-off point where you can snap some photos.
Maligligay Falls
Trekking along Maligligay Provincial Road for 25 minutes will take you to the Maligligay Falls. It is a unique 2 layered waterfall, with the upper one being 7-meters high with a basin depth of 4-meters, while the lower layer has a height of approximately 12-meters with a basin depth of 3-meters. This is considered as a beautiful and must-visit destination by Traveloka. Visitors can dip their feet in the pool of water while appreciating the view from the mountain.
Taoid Museum
To those who want to understand the Cordilleran culture and way of life must visit the Taoid Museum in La Tabacalera Lifestyle Center in Laoag City. The name of the museum ‘Taoid’ is derived from the Iluko word meaning ‘shared heritage’. The museum is divided into seven sections, each uniquely features an important aspect in the culture and lifestyle of Cordillerans.
La Paz Sand Dunes
The La Paz Sand Dunes or Bantay Bimmaboy is an 85 square kilometers of protected sandy coastal desert and beach situated near Laoag City. Its local name, Bantay Bimmaboy, refers to the common perception that the dunes are shaped like pigs. It is a popular location for shooting films and is also called the Desert of the North. The height of each dune varies from 10 to 30 meters. They are scenic themselves but a panoramic view of the West Philippine Sea can also be seen from there.
Kabigan Falls
The Kabigan Falls is approximately 87-feet high with its water dropping into a concave basin. It is located in Barangay Balaoi in the town of Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte and is 1.8 km far from the national road. Going there, you can either travel on foot which takes about half an hour or by availing a vehicle for rent if you don’t want to walk. Bring basic necessities such as a bottle of water or even food, but do not litter in the area! There will be fresh buko juice vendors just right by the entrance of the trail.
